Step 1:
Make sure you listen to the Feedback Sandwich episode to deliver a good feedback statement.
Step 2:
Take a hard look at yourself! How are you contributing to this situation? Leadership involves making a personal connection with the employee and challenging them to do their best work. Are you an Intimidator who challenges, but doesn’t care about the person? Are you an Appeaser
who wants to be liked but doesn’t challenge? Or are you an Avoider who doesn’t care about challenging the person to do their best work, nor cares about the person at a personal level.  The BEST leaders give a healthy dose of challenging their direct reports while caring for them at the same time. Now that’s what we call a LEADER.
Step 3:
Once you’ve analyzed to what extent you are challenging and connecting with this individual, formulate strategies to do more of one, the other, or both.
